As cockroaches prefer dark and humid places, the region in and around the sink provides them with the best suited environment to thrive. You should try to keep all your food items covered in order to stop attracting the cockroaches to nibble on your food.
It is necessary that you block all the gaps and fissures, especially around your water and drainage pipes to make sure that the cockroaches don’t enter easily. You must also take care of the areas near the sewers and keep them spotlessly clean and dry, so as to stop the cockroaches from thriving there. If there are common garbage bins or dumping places near your residence then you have to find a way to remove them, as in their presence your residence is quite likely to be invaded by cockroaches.
Finally, if you have to use chemical substances despite all these precautions then go for less strong chemicals such as boric acid instead of the stronger ones usually available in the market.
